LCD Uhr Texas Instruments mit pseudoanalogem Display

Erste Elektronikuhr der Firma Texas Instruments aus den 70er Jahren mit einer pseudoanalogen LCD-Anzeige. Texas Instruments war der Erfinder dieses Uhrentyps mit Namen Starburst und hat sich dies entsprechend patentieren lassen (siehe US Patente 3 938 318, 3 992 874 und andere). Dieses Prinzip der elektronischen Anzeige von Zeigern wurde später von allen bekannten Firmen, wie Citizen, Seiko und Casio nachgemacht. Hier haben Sie die Gelegenheit, das Original zu bekommen: vom Erfinder der pseudoanalogen Zeitdarstellung!!! Es werden neben der Uhrzeit auf Knopfdruck noch Datum und Monat sowie die Sekunden angezeigt. Desweiteren besitzt das Modul eine Stopfunktion mit innovativem grafischem Display. Das Design des Gehäuses ist genauso aufregend wie die verwendete Technologie.

Said to be the first “analog” watch without moving parts, it features 7 different types of time display, including Hours & Minutes, Minutes & Seconds, Day & Date, and Time in a different Time Zone. The watch also incorporates a stop-watch feature.

Among the technology “firsts” for this watch were: 1) Use of low-voltage liquid-crystal material for a multiplexed LCD; 2) Use of a lithium-manganese dioxide cell; 3) Use of an I2L (integrated injection logic) chip to drive the LCD; 4) Use of only 26 contacts for 120 display elements using two-way multiplexing. The watch was manufactured until 1981 when TI closed out all watch activity.
